Hello, World!

My name is Santiago Ruiz and welcome to my little slice of the internet. I’m a dedicated and passionate Career & Technical Education professional with over eighteen years of experience in New York City public and charter high schools. I am a strong believer in experiential learning. My love for experiential learning comes from the over twenty-two years of experience I have accrued in the IT and Multimedia industries. I have seen firsthand how quality experiences help shape and, in some cases, help save lives. For over 10 years, I have leveraged my entrepreneurial resources in order to provide, and personally finance, fully immersive industry projects for recent high school graduates.  You can see some of those projects in the portfolio section below.

Responsible fo the international hit “Ese Fui Yo,” Ruiz & Ruiz Records was the first NYC based independent recording label to focus on Reggaeton and Spanish RAP.

R&R was founded by the event DJ duo Kelvin “Papote” Ruiz and Santiago “02” Ruiz. In 1997, while still in high in high school, the pair began to DJ under the R&R Entertainment banner. After a brief hiatus, the two joined forces in 1999 and began recording their first Reggaeton album, “R&R – Rated R.” By 2000, R&R had officially incorporated and became the first NYC based  independent Reggaeton label.

R&R’s repertoire included  , Enox, Marlee, Rob, Ness, Jacob, Papote (Vocalist, Co-Executive Producer, Musical Producer), 02 (Co-Executive Producer, Musical Producer).

Prior to ceasing operations, the label served as constants and enjoyed amazing collaborations with other artists and major labels, some of which include: SGZ Entertainment ( SONY Music), Bachata group Xtreme, 2 Strong Entertainment (Univision Music), Bachata artist Toby Love, MOSA (UBO Music), Reggaeton artist Divino, Grammy winning producer Echo, DJ Wassie, radio host Shino Aguakate, recording artist Notch, to name a few.

After securing distribution with Universal Music Latino (Guitian Bros.) for “R&R All Stars,” R&R began working on “Ese Fui Yo” for Jose “Gocho” Torres’ “MVP2.” Written by Kelvin “Papote” Ruiz, Ernesto “Ness” Velazquez and Santiago “02” Ruiz, “Ese Fui Yo” was rejected by Gocho. The production team which included Pedro “SP” Polanco and Joseph “Jkey” Diaz, team later reworked the song for Romeo’s (formerly of  2in a Room & Fulanito) 3rd Degree Label (UBO). Unfortunately an agreement was never reached and the song wouldn’t be released officially until the acquisition of R&R Records by Transistor Theory Media Group (TTMGNY).
